Malaysia’s The Star spotlights 27-year-old creator Benny Wong Thong Hou, one of three runners-up for Japan’s inaugural International Manga Award — the “Nobel Prize of Manga.”
Wong’s submission, Le.Gardenie, is a coming-of-age story about a group of teens with fruit-based names — Orange, Apple, Kiwi and Lemon. Published by Malaysia’s Gala Unggul Resources, it was among 146 entries from 25 countries submitted to the competition.
“Of course it’s unexpected,” Wong tells The Star. “I’ve been through a lot of struggle and I work very hard, but sometimes I feel lost and don’t know what I’m doing. This award woke me up. I was really glad that I could represent Malaysia for this award.”

hi.love u art work and i’ve been a fan of yours since u publish your art work in Utopia.collecting your graphic novel is one of my interest.i hope one day i can pursue my passion in art.(hopefully!haha)even im a mad scientist now,seeing somebody whom pursue his dream in art field is somewhat encourage me to not to forget my real passion is!

once when he was a kid he was very good in drawing comical sketches.I used to see him sketch and amused us and really we have a good laugh.

Hi ben, I really want to say that may we make this novel being alive???? I mean, we make a film about same storyline as you arrange in Le Gardenie…. What do you feel about this?? Many films nowadays are based on the book best-seller or novel or etc.. You can make a setting as you set on le gardenie too.. Venice-like town.. How do think about this? As you know, this is first ‘film’ that based on the fruits name…. Some different from others….
Wait the minutes.. I really badly like your comic especially le gardenie.. The character the most I like is Kiwi.. I hope you can published another kind of comic as well as Le gardenie.. I will support you from back. ;)… Oh, may I know you more closer?
