Anime Expo breaks record with 44,000 attendees

July 3rd, 2007

Despite yesterday suggesting that a change of venue may have hurt attendance at Anime Expo, ICv2.com now reports the four-day convention actually broke last year’s record-setting figure.

This year’s show, which moved to Long Beach, Calif., because of a scheduling conflict with the Anaheim Convention Center, drew 44,000 unique attendees, besting the previous year by some 3,000.

Anime News Network reports that the 2008 show will be held July 3-6 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

There was a GIANT anime con in Boston (about 2 months ago), anyone know what the attendance for that con was? Also is the Boston Con related to the one noted in the article?

  2. Kevin Melrose Says:

According to the convention’s blog, Anime Boston 2007 drew an estimated 11,000 people.

The two cons are organized by different groups.
