Erik Larsen just wants you to know – He loves everything:
I love comics big – I love them small. One of surest ways of getting me to buy something I’ve bought a dozen times before is to put it in a new format. Yes, I have the “Fantastic Four” reprinted in a dozen different books, but now it’s in black and white and small? I must have that!
It’s sick, I tell you.
DC, Marvel, Fantagraphics, IDW and all the rest keep pulling money out of my wallet and I can’t help myself! I’m addicted to new and exciting formats!
I can’t be the only one who wishes that he’d followed “I love comics big – I love them small” with “Comics comics, I love them all.”

aw i really like Mr. Larsen’s public persona. I respect him greatly for speaking his mind and speaking frankly. he’s great at communicating with his fans and detractors, and doesn’t seem to suffer from egotism. plus he produces a ton of work, all the while presiding over image.

Yeah, and even though he disagrees with some stuff other comic creators say/do he’ll still publish their stuff if he thinks it’s good.

He’s done 130+ issues of his own creation (writing, drawing, inking, and now lettering) since going over to Image. Compare this to other folks who claim to love comics but don’t actually write or draw any — yes, I’m looking at you, John Byrne. Seems to me that Larsen really does love comics and walks the walk.
