OK, this is where I go out on a limb and say that as much as I'm enjoying this series, I can't help but feel Jeanty and Whedon are having some miscommunication in regards to pacing and storytelling. By that I mean, it feels like there are significant plot/story beats that Jeanty isn't capturing to maximum effect.

SPOILERS

Take, for instance, Buffy getting a hit of Willow's magic in the last issue. Pretty cool idea and in the show, this would have been given a bigger splash. Jeanty's panel layouts, however, not only make the sequence a little hard to follow, but they don't give the reader the 'money shot' where it needs to be.

In fact, much of the action in the last two issues is confusing, particularly where the magic is involved.

Say what you will about the show, but the directors usually knew what moments called for close-ups and which ones called for medium shots, etc. This is what feels like is missing from the Buffy book - a sense of careful direction.
