Variety reports that Lionsgate will produce a new version of the 1960s cartoon Speed Racer, launching it around the same Warner Bros.’ live-action movie hits theaters next year.
An initial run of 26 episodes has been picked up by Nicktoons, Nickelodeon’s 24-hour cartoon channel. Speed Racer will be Lionsgate’s first animated series.
According to the trade paper, the updated series stars a teen who enters a racing academy for the fastest kids on Earth, only to discover that he’s the son of the original Speed Racer — and that he has a brother, the new Racer X. The show will feature at least one other notable update: Young Speed will drive the Mach 6 — not the legendary Mach 5 — the most advanced vehicle in the universe.

I would be happy to see a new Speed Racer Cartoon. The old version was one of me favorite cartoons. Its going to take me a while to get used to the new Mach 6.I wish the creaters would keep the old Mach, but oh well as my mother once said.I dont like change.
