The cons are over, the announcements have been digested and regurgitated tenfold, and the blogging continues … so let’s take one more look at the misc. debris from this past weekend …
First up, HeroesCon. Adhouse Books has a flickr set of pictures from the con (which is where I found the pic to the right). Mike Manley also has a lot of pictures.
Colleen Doran talks about all the books she sold:
The Friday convention crowd was very mellow, and it seemed pretty slow. The whole weekend seemed to have slow sales, but when the show was over and I packed up and did the tally, I was shocked how well I did. I sold considerably more books than I had the year before, doubling sales on A Distant Soil. The free comic giveaway - it’s a good thing - with several people telling me they had not seen it in years and were glad to be reintroduced.
The biggest surprise of the weekend: Reign of the Zodiac. What the hell was up with that? I sold DOZENS of them. I’ve been making very good progress cleaning out the vaults and had found lots of copies of back issues, so I had complete runs of my work on the series. I’d also finally gotten returns on unsold inventory from an old client later last year, so had plenty of copies to sell that I did not have in my inventory for years.
Sean Galloway said he had a good time and got a little starstruck:
I saw Rosario Dawson for the first time in person…. I am speachless at how beautiful she is in person.
Kevin mentioned Johanna Draper Carlson’s day one coverage over the weekend. In her day two report, she talks about an upcoming book that sounds pretty awesome:
Last, old friend Steve Saffel has written an incredible hardcover called Spider-Man: The Icon, also due in October. Based on the preliminary proof he showed, it’s got tons of scans and images of not only comics, but also licensed products. I was interested because it’s not just written for fans (although there’s plenty for them included).
And the Pulse covers a few panels I haven’t seen covered anywhere else, the Paul Hornschemeier panel, the webcomics panel and the mini-comic panel.
And then onto WizardWorld Philly, via Tom Breevort’s blog over at Marvel.com:
Spent the past weekend at Wizard World Philadeplhia, where Marvel met a great crowd of enthusiastic readers. Got to spend a little time with friends and family, ate some Philly cheesesteaks, and had a great breakfast in a hole-in-the-wall cafe. We also made a batch of well-received announcements about upcoming Marvel plans and projects.
He also talks about the future of Young Avengers. Marvel also has updated their photo gallery from the con. They also have a gallery specifically for all the toys they displayed at the show.
CBR has articles up on the Amory Wars and the Jim Steranko/Carmine Infantino panels.
The main ‘rama site, meanwhile, has a big list o’ links to all of their news coverage, as does Wizard. And you can also check out Blog@’s previous round-ups forday 1, day 2, day 3, as well as Tom Bondurant’s thoughts on this weekend’s Flash announcements.
Oh, and here’s a bonus con report: Stuart Immonen talks about the Toronto Comicon.

The outfit of the girl in the picture is awesome. I wonder if she made it herself.
