E! Online’s TV blogger Kristin posts a comment from “J in New York,” who says he works at DC Comics, about the rumored upcoming Veronica Mars comic:
J in New York: I work at DC Comics, and you’ve got some big love here. There’s a bunch of us who take your word for gospel, and though it’s already sorta out there, we just wanted to send some info your way on the Veronica Mars comic books. They’ll be published by our Wildstorm imprint, which is based in San Diego, and R.T. is looking to be firmly on board. We’re even hoping for a late fall release of the first issue. Hopefully, more to come…Keep up the good work!
The blog Comic by Comic picked it up earlier, before “J. Jonah Jameson*” was shortened to “J” …

Important, if true.

Hey, I just edited my post over on Comic By Comic to change the name – I don’t want to get anyone in trouble.
Mind editing the post here too?
And J – if you’re reading, you owe me a beer. And I only work across the street from you

Yeah, it isn’t really important to the post, so I can do that …

Rob needs to let Veronica Mars die already. It’s over.

Over? Did you say over? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when NBC cancelled ‘Misfits of Science’? Hell no!
I’m looking forward to the comic book, if it ever comes out. It might be good.

You said ‘Misfits of Science’. My day is complete.

I just can’t see a V Mars comic being anywhere near as satisfying as the actual show. I suppose it’ll be worthwhile if Rob Thomas actually writes it, and they address all the dangling subplots left after the series finale.

Comics is not the medium i would have preferred the show came back in, but i will take what i can get

Am I to be led to believe that Misfits of Science continued on in some form after NBC canceled it? Because I’d kill for more of that show.

More Veronica –> Yeah!
Rosco –> Boo!

Wildstorm is a good match for this series. Maybe it’ll be similar to the Buffy comic with several writers- I think Giffen, Vaughn, and McKeever would be well-suited to this title.
And if it’s not your bag, I’m sure somebody will start a Dancing With the Stars comic after that show ends.

Please! I don’t know why there are so many haters about this. I haven’t read one complaint about the fact that Joss is continuing Buffy in comics, and properties from Star Wars to Thundercats have found life in comics after they ended in other media. With Thomas as the writer (or written by other writers from the show or comic creators who are fans), there is no reason for any Veronica Mars fan to not be thrilled by this. I may send Wildstorm a box of Mars Bars now that I think of it,

I agree. If it’s not your thing fine, why dump on it though? It’s gonna be cool. I hope they can get the actors to do new photo covers or something. I think it’ll be swell.

The reason some are against it is because the acting itself was more vital to Veronica Mars than with Buffy, or at least it is in their opinion. I haven’t seen VM so I can’t comment on it, but I can certainly see where they’re coming from.

I dont think it will do as well as Buffy in comics form but if the choice is between No Veronica Mars and Veronica Mars the comic book then this can only be good

As witty and warm VERONICA MARS, the TV series was, I have no interest at all in a comic book version where I can’t watch Kristen Bell in motion.
As for the BUFFY comparison, well, casting was even more essential to the Buffyverse, but I am interested enough to learn what happenned to the characters after the TV series was cancelled, so I would settle for a “new life” in comic book for.
But for Veronica and friends? Not so. I liked the series a lot, really, but there was no “story arc” for the characters, no “voyage”. I do not care all that much about whatever happen to them afterwards. Add to that –or should I say substract?– no Kristen Bell, and… Well, good riddance, Veronica.
