It’s an oh-so-slow news day, which seems like as good of a time as any to do a roundup of Heroes-related news. Fair warning: There could be a spoiler or two.
Two new faces, and a familiar foe
Yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter had word that Nick D’Agosto has been cast as Claire’s (Hayden Panettiere) boyfriend, West, who has “a very cool superpower.”
Talking to TV Guide, D’Agosto said West is “confident and mysterious. He’s seems to be very comfortable in his own skin.” He admits, though, that he doesn’t know what the character’s power is.
D’Agosto is the second new cast member revealed this month. On June 1, NBC Universal TV Studios announced that Dania Ramirez (The Sopranos, X-Men: The Last Stand) will play Maya in the show’s second season.
Of the four or five expected new cast members, Ramirez’s may be the only regular character.
And it should surprise no one that Zachary Quinto, who plays the serial killer Sylar, will return as a series regular. Come on, you didn’t think Sylar was dead, did you?
Kring talks Heroes: Origins
Voices From Krypton has an audio interview with Heroes creator Tim Kring, who discusses the new Origins miniseries, which will air next spring during the mid-season break.
Season 1 DVD details
TVShowsOnDVD.com has the breakdown of all the features on the Heroes Season 1 DVD, which is set for an Aug. 28 release.
Nissan and network strike marketing deal
NBC and Nissan have announced a marketing partnership for the second season of Heroes that will include “product integration, off-channel platforms, wireless applications, traditional television advertising and significant on-air and online sponsorships.”
According to the press release, the automaker will use the TV show as the central hub of its campaign to launch the Nissan Rogue. The campaign will kick off with the season premiere, which will be exclusively sponsored by Nissan. In an increasingly common instance of product placement, one of the central characters will drive the Rogue.

I hoped Sylar was dead. Okay, he was a good villain, but now that’s enough.

I guess Quinto has too much of a fanbase?
