Following up on word last week that a draft for the movie adaptation of Justice League of America has been submitted, Variety writes that the screenplay, by Kieran Mulroney and Michele Mulroney, “had Warner Bros. suits actually smiling.”
That leads the trade paper to pose an old question: Should the studio release Justice League before its sequel to Superman Returns, tentatively planned for 2009? (Of course, it should be pointed out that no script has been written.)

I dunno. I think there needs to be another Superman movie first and maybe at the end have him get some assistance from a coupla heroes in order to handle some super-powered baddie….just to see that the filmmakers can handle Superman actually dealing with a major super bad guy. Instead of retreading a previous plot like the last one did. Of course now that Superman is a deadbeat dad, should he really spend so much time in a headquarters with other heroes in tights?
Then there’s the Wonder Woman movie problem which is tied-up tightly in a golen lasso right now.

I say skip the Superman sequel and throw him in the Justice League movie. That way we can get at JL movie before another Superman movie doesn’t make enough money and kills studio interest in the character.

Ideally I’d like to see a Wonder Woman movie and maybe a Flash movie before we get the JLA movie. (And maybe another Superman movie and Batman movie, time permitting.)
The problem I can envision a JLA movie having is trying to establish all the characters’ origins, and then establish how they form the League, and then there’s no time for anything interesting. Because that’s how Hollywood typically does it.
A better approach, I think, is to just throw us into the middle. Start with a regular JLA meeting, and then Starro invades, or something.

If only…
I think DC would make more money they could count if they skipped over Super-Sequel and went straight into the JLA…or if they made a Super Sequel they could use it to build the JLA and then reveal in a third act…
*sigh* these ideas…I shouldn’t share them.

Wait, is there no script written for JLA or SR2? Because I’ll go with the answer being both.
Then again, I don’t believe DC is making any movies until they actually start filming. If not for the set pics, I would still think Batman Begins 2 is in limbo.

They have a rough draft of a script that Warner Bros MIGHT like???Wow.That means…absolutely nothing. We’ll never see this movie.
(always the optimist)

well it wouldn’t really make sense that superman’s all of a sudden part of JLA. as far as i know, and considering superman returns is a continuing story of superman I-IV, superman doesn’t even know batman or wonder woman. how are they gonna team up? even if the JLA movie has them all meet and start the jla club, that’s going to take like an hour+. they should show superman II and have some batman and woman have like a small role and THEN do the JLA movie.

Is the jury still out on whether WB will do this film live-action or CGI (performance capture) ala “BEOWULF”? I sincerely hope WB goes for the latter. I may be in the minority here. But I feel that this film will look silly in live-action. Especially with the costuming.
CGI/Performance-Capture this movie to look like Alex Ross’ art. Then the film would be taken more seriously. Because being animated, “JLA” will be taken more seriously by non-comics, as well as comics fans. And it will look BEATIFUL!
