As Day 2 of HeroesCon and Wizard World Philadelphia winds down, the biggest news was the announcements of new writers for DC’s Justice League of America and Marvel’s She-Hulk.
As Brad Meltzer’s 12-issue run on Justice League comes to a close, DC announced today that Dwayne McDuffie will take over in September, beginning with a JLA Wedding Special, which ships just before Issue 13. Executive Editor Dan DiDio told Newsarama that McDuffie will write the title “until he doesn’t want to write it anymore.”
(McDuffie talks about his plans for the series here.)
With the end of Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Marvel revealed that Peter David will take over as writer of She-Hulk, replacing Dan Slott.
In other news coming out of the second day of the conventions:
• Marvel announced the next X-Men crossover, Messiah Complex, will kick off in October with a one-shot written by Ed Brubaker and illustrated by Marc Silvestri. The event will cross through issues of Uncanny X-Men, X-Men, New X-Men and X-Factor.
• J. Torres will write Wonder Girl: Champion, a six-issue miniseries starring Cassie Sandmark. Sanford Greene will draw the project, which launches in September. Torres also will write The Black Canary Wedding Planner, one of three special issues tied to the wedding of Black Canary and Green Arrow.
• Brian Michael Bendis and Jackson Guice will team up for Ultimate Origin, detailing the origins of Marvel’s Ultimate universe. Bendis also announced he’s re-signed his exclusive agreement with Marvel.
