Chicago’s Daily Southtown talks with longtime comics editor and writer Louise Simonson about her new coffee-table book, DC Comics Covergirls, which looks at 60 years of comic-book women, from Lois Lane and Wonder Woman to Supergirl and the Birds of Prey.
“I think the thing that most surprised me when I did the research was that every single one of these female characters had male creators,” Simonson tells the newspaper.
The article briefly veers away from the book and the characters to spotlight Simonson, who’s described as “a bit of a pioneer in the industry.”
The 208-page DC Comics Covergirls was released May 29 by Universe Publishing.

What characters HAVE been created by women? Is there a list? I know Simonson has created some.
