Channel News Asia reports that a graphic novel “laden with adult content” was imported from the United States and sold at the World Book Fair in Singapore, in violation of that country’s laws regulating “obscene” material.
Although the article doesn’t name the book, the clues lead me to think it’s How to Make Money Like a Porn Star, by Neill Strauss and Bernard Chang. The news report specifies the publisher, HarperCollins, and quotes someone — a book fair attendee, maybe? — saying, “The book shows how kids could make money by producing their own porn.”
According to Channel News Asia, the graphic novel was displayed with children’s books at the fair. Reporters also found copies at several local bookstores.
Under Singapore law, anyone who makes, imports, sells or distributes “obscene” publications can face up to $3,250 in fines, a year in jail, or both.
