On his MySpace blog, Steve Niles trots out this teaser poster for the film adaptation of 30 Days of Night. There’s some question at Bloody Disgusting and JoBlo as to whether it’s an official poster; I’m thinking Niles would know if it weren’t.
The movie, which stars Josh Hartnett and Melissa George, opens Oct. 19.

A little too graphic for display at my family-oriented theatre. But I like it!

Lots of red and a blood splattered text treatment, as well as “based on the graphic novel.”
Riding the coat tails of 300 in a lame way.

That’s amazing–I’d frame that.

I want that and the Grindhouse posters both framed!

So, it looks like one of the 300 posters. Meh.

Close to one of the 300 posters but eye-catching none-the-less. I hope it does well.

Yeah, except he doesn’t say it’s official, and he says he found it online. I think if they were releasing the official teaser poster more than just Steve Niles would have it.
I could be wrong, but that’s my view.

I would have stuck with the original comic cover with the large cropped head and the stitched up mouth by Templesmith. That was iconic this seems too similar to other movie posters.

Too close to the 300 posters most definitely. I agree that the cover for the 1st issue of the original series would serve as a better poster. But hey, maybe this is just to test the waters? In any case, there ya go…
