Publisher: Mouse Guard hardcover has sold 25,000

June 5th, 2007
Author Kevin Melrose

Also at ICv2.com, Archaia Studios Press publisher Mark Smylie reveals that the hardcover collection of David Petersen’s Mouse Guard: Fall 1152 has sold more than 25,000 copies since its release in May.

A partial breakdown is provided — the brief article cuts off — with 11,000 going to bookstores and libraries, 7,000 to comic stores and 5,000 to the Science Fiction Book Club.

My copy arrived yesterday, and it’s beautiful. Although I’d bought the single issues as they were released, having the story — and Petersen’s gorgeous painted art — in book form makes all the difference. The extras are nice, too.

The sequel, Winter 1152, launches in July. Two prequels also are planned.

I got my copy from Amazon.com last week. It’s a beautiful book and amazing story.

My only complaint is the first couple of pages seem a little separated from the spine.

I don’t know whether to go through the hassle of returning.

The accolades this book receives are well deserved. Anyone that hasn’t had a chance to read it should do so as soon as possible.

It’s a nice break from the super hero dominated world of comics.

Chris: Now that you mention it, my copy has the same flaw.

I need to pick up this hardcover for myself and another copy for my little cousin.

It definately is worth all the hype. I love this book.
