If you think back to last month, you may recall an online rumor that Galactus would appear in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Surfer as a storm cloud, rather than the helmeted, purple-clad giant we’ve come to love. Producer Avi Arad said we’d “see more than a cloud,” but that didn’t stop fans from wringing their hands.
Then on Tuesday, I posted about the big FF push during the Heroes season finale, and reader Tim Agen commented, “I wonder if the people who were in an uproar over the Galactus cloud are embarassed by their wrongness. Y’all saw the shadow on Saturn, right?”
Despite scanning the commercials again, I didn’t see it. Luckily the folks at Geek Monthly did, and they’ve posted a sequence from the movie that clearly shows a familiar shadow falling across the ringed planet. The helmet, the horns — they’re all there.

You are joking , right? It’s like those people who saw venom in the clouds behind spiderman 3 ’s first pics. And also, oh yeah…I have colleagues who worked on the movie, and Galactus is definitely a cloud.

You’re joking that you _don’t_ see it, right, Matteo? The shadow is definately designed to look like the helmet. It reminds me more of the Ultimate universe shape. But I don’t really care either way. I don’t plan on seeing this movie. I just saw it in the commercial (DVR whoot!) and expected a bigger reaction online.

It’s a shadow and quite possibly a fakeout. Wasn’t the rumour based on people who read the novelization?

The rumor is also based on people who have friends who know a guy who met one of the dudes working on the movie and THEY said he was a cloud.

Actually he wasnt a cloud. That image of the shadow is genuine and did appear in the movie and if you did look observe the surfer when he enters the cloud you WILL see a burning mass in the shape of the helmet of galactus.
The cloud is merely his powerfield and fox did that to make the character more godly, mysterious and so that it wont be “Oh sh!t we saw this purple guy for like 10 seconds and he dies”

yeah i saw the movie, but unfortunately it was pirated and i could not see the shadow but it con be true cauz when we go to wikipedia and search for galactus a picture appears to have the shadow of galactus something like a nova which is seen at the end of the movie when silver surfer kills him!!!!!!!!!!

Its very hard to see, but look when the surfer goes into the cloud, you will see a shadow that looks identical to the helmet we all know galactus to have, also the passing shadow on saturn well some people say that galactus was in his ordainary (as ordainary as we think he can be) state and then suddenly he turns into cloud mode, intresting, powerfield?? well anyway I heard that they made galactus a cloud cause in the silver surfer spin off movie they wanted to make his a proper chracter but hey…more then just a giant cloud is going on trust me on that

Well I remember when I saw the film I like it and when galactus appeared and well you know when like after about 6 minutes after the surfer says He is here well when he is attacking earth the clouds resemble a face could this face be his?? personnaly I think the cloud was some sorta traviling thing and he was actually about to come outa the cloud before surfer stoped him THAT EXSPLAINS why we see a shadow in the flame before surfer blows himself up cause he was about to come out also it is intresting because the novel says that his name is GAH LAK TUS which might indicate that infact they are different things that that GALACTUS AND GAH LAK TUS are two different things and silver surfer was referring to the GALACTUS but the giant cloud was GAH LAK TUS E.G traviling thing (personnaly I like the hes inside the cloud rumour better then the GAH LAK TUS and GALACTUS one better)I just wish I could meet the creators and ask them what is that cloud?

who gives a crap, the movie sucked

Yeah, hindsight from 18 months later has me firmly on the side of “Galactus sucked and was a wasted villain.” They’ve got a chance to redeem him by plopping him into the new Avengers movie…or not…
