The John Byrne Board discovers the hidden messages in Marvel Zombies:
“I was reading the Marvel Zombies prequel when it struck me, that this series is a good analogy for what’s happening with the current M***** comics. From the looks of the characters and their costumes this alternate Marvel earth was much like the 1970′s Marvel universe. Then this “disease” comes corrupts, consumes and destroys this world, leaving a distorted, twisted and graphic version in it’s place. Has anyone else noticed these parallels?”
“[W]hile I don’t necessarily agree with your comparison… the disease is even spread by The Sentry, a New Avenger who was created from hype.”
“One of the things that did impress me about this series however, was that they took care to get the classic ’70′s look right. Over in X-Men: First Class for example it’s as if they never bothered to crack a back issue. Everything from showing Quicksilver in blue at a time he was wearing green to showing a flashback with the X-Men in the wrong costumes and Jean knowing Mastermind’s real name was Jason Wyngarde long before she learned it during the Phoenix saga. At least Marvel Zombies has the right ‘feel’ to it.”
And that feel is, apparently, superheroes as brain-eating monsters.
Says a lot about the Byrne Board…

Yeah, I think they have a point here. I’m going with the Byrne Board on this one.

I noticed the 70′s and 80′s costumes, but I thought it was just the preference of the creators. I didn’t read into it as deeply as these guys, I guess.

I never thought I’d ever agree with that garbage spewing, deranged old man–but wow, he’s right and I agree with him.

“I never thought I’d ever agree with that garbage spewing, deranged old man–but wow, he’s right and I agree with him. ”
Graeme never said Byrne said any of the quotes.
