Now that Spider-Man 3 has had its record-breaking opening, it’s time to turn our attention to the next Marvel movie, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, which bows in a little more than a month.
As we count down to June 15, I’ll periodically round up FF-related news in a feature called “Four-front.” (I briefly considered “Four-play,” but I didn’t think that would go over too well. So, “Four-front” it is, at least for now.)
Rise of the Dodge Charger
MediaPost’s Marketing Daily looks at the cross-promotion between the Dodge Charger and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
The movie’s Fantasticar, unveiled in November, bears the Dodge emblem on its grill and seats. According to one source, the automaker shelled out $1 million to have its name on the Fantastic Four’s flying vehicle.
Marketing Daily reports that, beginning Saturday, the Fantasticar will appear nationwide in in-cinema ads. The Dodge Ram Mega Cab pickup and the Durango SUV also get placements in the movie.
The vehicle wears a Dodge badge, and its grill bears the emblematic Dodge crosshair design and ram’s-head logo, which also appears on the seat headrests. The vehicle will also appear well before the movie in in-cinema ads the Chrysler Group division will start running nationwide on Saturday. Dodge also gets its Dodge Ram Mega Cab pickup and Durango SUV in the movie.
In addition, the deal includes a Dodge Fantasticar toy from Hasbro and an appearance in the Rise of the Silver Surfer video game.
The relationship also extends to NASCAR, where on May 27 the No. 19 Fantasticar Dodge Charger will debut, driven by Elliott Sadler.
Banner? Wait, this isn’t The Hulk
The movie’s international website debuts the new outdoor banner, featuring the Silver Surfer and the Human Torch in a standoff over New York City.
Quote of the day
“You’re standing there hitting the marks, pretending that your arm is stretching way over there. Jessica [Alba, the Invisible Woman] is behind you, but she’s invisible, and Chris [Evans, the Human Torch] is flying around somewhere. You’re doing it over and over again. You really have to concentrate and be on the ball. I’m not believable in all those takes and they can’t take that away and impose my arm-stretching. It’s harder, in a sense. The satisfaction comes from seeing it all finally put together.”

At last, a decent poster
CanMag spots an international poster for the movie that is, frankly, better than any of the others Fox has trotted out.

This film better rule because the first one was little more than a Power Rangers episode from my holier-than-thou perspective.
