So Sunday’s reports of Spider-Man 3’s opening numbers were a little off. It didn’t make just shy of $150 million, it made just over $150 million. $151.1 million, to be exact … or as exact as you can get, anyway, when you’re talking about box office numbers.
So let’s talk sequels. Sony’s CEO, who is probably rolling around in green stuff, naked, as we speak, says there will be more Spider-Man movies:
Sony Pictures chief executive Michael Lynton told the BBC: “Everybody has every intention of making a fourth, a fifth and a sixth and on and on.”
There would be “as many as we can make good stories for”, he pledged.
Who knows what “everybody” actually means … if it’s just “everybody” at Sony or if it includes Sam Raimi and the stars of the film.
Speaking of the stars, this article had shades of Entourage, specifically the Mandy Moore/Vincent Chase Aquaman plot from season 2. Maybe replacing Dunst would be a good thing for everyone involved, including those of us in the seats.
And as long as we’re talking about sequels … is it too soon to start talking villains? Yes, yes it is.
