The New York Times profiles Nick Bertozzi and his book The Salon. The book was previewed in Alternative Comics’ Free Comic Book Day offering in 2004, the infamous comic that is at the center of the Gordon Lee case in Georgia:
When he heard about the case, Mr. Bertozzi said, his first response was to send Mr. Lee a letter seeking forgiveness. He supports efforts to help Mr. Lee, who he says is guilty of nothing more than a mistake; at an April 26 benefit in the East Village, copies of a mug shot of Picasso drawn by Mr. Bertozzi were sold to raise funds.
Mr. Bertozzi and his wife, Kim Chaloner, have a daughter, Sabina, 5, and he said he could understand the Georgia family’s response. “As a parent I’d be upset, too,” he said. “But I don’t think I would drag the state into it without first demanding an apology.”
