Thanks for the memories, even though they weren’t so sweet.

The Bendis Board wants to talk about a forgotten gem:

“did jemas namor series happen… i never heard about this book. did it come out and if so, was it good?”

“It was part of the Tsunami line that launched with i believe 873 books back in 2003. There were some good comics out of that line no doubt (Runaways,Sentinel,Mystique,Inhumans,Emma Frost,New Mutants – which grew into the current New-Men) But then there was Namor and Human Torch which have their charms but were commercial failures. Plus Don’t even bring up the horrifically bad Venom… But the line as a whole flopped under Jemas (Throw everything at the wall and see what sticks) line of thinking.”

“I remember thinking it was a good thing the Tsunami line folded before 2004 when a real-world tsunami in the Indian Ocean killed several hundred thousand. It would’ve felt like naming a line fucking ‘Holocaust Comics’ in 1944.”

“The scary thing is Bill Jemas almost went with Ground Zero as the name for the Ultimate Marvel line back in early 2000. He dodged a bullet on that one, yet he still didn’t learn his lesson. If he was still with Marvel i think he would have named the Marvel Adventure line School Shooting Comix.”

Ah, Bill Jemas. Is it wrong that I really miss him?
