The Eisner-winning folks at Zeus Comics will present their third annual CAPE — Comics and Pop Culture Expo — this weekend in conjunction with Free Comic Book Day. The event will expand this year to all three days, hosting an art show, a costume contest and a “big gay brunch” in addition to CAPE Day on Saturday.
Guests at this year’s CAPE include Gail Simone, Scott Kurtz, David Mack, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, novelist Mercedes Lackey, Josh Howard, Jamie S. Rich, Marc Andreyko, Tony Bedard, Jim Mahfood, Lea Hernandez, Ian Shaughnessy, Kody Chamberlain and many more.
CAPE is free to attend, and Saturday’s events will take place in the Zeus Comics parking lot at 3878 Oak Lawn in Dallas. I attended the last two years, but my relocation to California kind of puts a damper on going this year. Still, if you’re in the Dallas area and really want to experience Free Comic Book Day, CAPE is the place to do it.
