Warriors: The Lost Warrior, Vol. 1

Another week, another manga milestone. Just two weeks ago, Tokyopop’s Fruits Basket, Vol. 16, made the best-ever showing for a manga on USA Today’s Top 150 Books list at No. 15.

Now this week, Warriors: The Lost Warrior, Vol. 1, the Tokyopop/HarperCollins adaptation of Erin Hunter’s young-adult novel, debuts at No. 74, marking what blogger Brigid Alverson says may be the first time a global manga has made the USA Today chart. (The prose edition, Warriors: Power of Three #1: The Sight, comes in at No. 17.)

Meanwhile, Naruto, Vol. 14, premieres at No. 115, and Fruits Basket, Vol. 16, slips to No. 98 from 38.

Also of note: Brad Meltzer’s The Book of Fate, which contains ads for his Identity Crisis and Justice League of America collections, debuts at No. 29.

The USA Today list tracks all genres and types of books sold in some 4,700 brick-and-mortar and online stores.
