Columbia nabs rights to Verheiden’s The Ark

May 3rd, 2007
Author Kevin Melrose

Variety reports that Columbia Pictures has secured the rights to The Ark, Mark Verheiden’s 1998 story from Dark Horse Presents that merges the story of Noah’s Ark with a UFO crash.

Verheiden will write the adaptation. Neal Moritz (The Fast and the Furious, Hot Wheels) and Dark Horse’s Mike Richardson will produce.

Verheiden, who has written My Name Is Bruce and episodes of Smallville and Battlestar Galactica, is probably best known to comics readers for his work on Superman/Batman, Aliens and The Phantom.

Mortiz is also developing Luke Cage, based on the Marvel character.
