Booster Gold #1 cover revealed

Wizard has a “first look” at the cover to the upcoming Booster Gold #1, as well as an article on the new book:

“The point of the book ultimately is to establish his domain as the timestream and the multiverse,” says Katz. “Whenever you have big timestream crossovers or, more important, big multiverse crossovers, in the future, Booster’s a guy that will make a lot of sense to be involved and play a big role. It gives him a big stage.”

But what’s up with the former time master, Rip Hunter? Oh, he’ll be along for the ride. Acting as a mentor to Booster, Hunter taps the blue-and-gold hero to act as lawman for all of time and space.

“Post-52, the timestream is malleable,” adds Katz. “As a result of that, you’ve got this sort of frontier land that, if someone were to take it and make it their own, there’s a ton of power in. Basically [Booster’s] got to be the sheriff of that.”

Geoff Johns and Jeff Katz co-write the book, with artwork by Booster Gold creator Dan Jurgens.

So who do you recognize on the cover? I see dead people …

Is that the Robin from The Dark Knight Returns?

  2. Steven Says:

Yeah, actually, the only one I don’t recognize is the woman to the left of Carrie Kelly, the blonde in the yellow suit covering up one pissed off looking Mr. Mind.

That’s Goldstar. When Booster had his own corporation back in the ’80s, he had the Goldstar suit made; it gave whoever wore it magnetic powers. Booster’s secretary Trixie (a redhead) had to use it once in an emergency, and later his sister Michelle (a blonde) stole it and got killed playing superhero with it. I’m looking forward to seeing what this book is going to do with it. (That looks like Trixie in this picture. I preferred Trixie as a civilian, but we’ll see.)

With all the characters on those cards, it’s the ABSENCE of Ted Kord / Blue Beetle II that is most telling.

  5. Joe Tate Says:

I read Booster Gold in the 80′s, and its too great to see him come back BIG. (wishing Ted was here, but that DOES seem possible now) And with the picture of his dead sister Michelle on one of the card, we are guarenteed some great stories coming up…

    Booster Gold…the new Waverider!

  7. Kevin Huxford Says:

Mark, you pointed out the only sinking feeling I have about this. The whole policing time thing has never been ultra-popular. Then again, no one has ever had a lease to go willy nilly ’round the DC mythos as much, either. :)

  8. Matt Says:

Policing time hasn’t been all that popular in the past, but policing time and the multiverse could be something else entirely.

    DC’s version of exiles…. i like it

  10. JK Parkin Says:

So who is the guy right above the Dark Knight Returns Robin?

  11. Charlie Mack Says:

That would be ole Maxwell Lord… hmmm.
