Variety reports that Warner Bros. has acquired the film rights to Ronin, Frank Miller’s 1983-84 tale of a dishonored 13th-century samurai reincarnated in a near-future New York City.

Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard) will direct the live-action movie using an approach similar to 300, which was shot on a soundstage for $65 million using blue- and green-screen technology.

Miller will be an executive producer.
