Every day is full of discoveries

Thanks to Tom and Editor and Publisher, I’m now aware of The Opper Project, an educational resource from the Ohio State University’s Cartoon Research Library. The project uses editorial cartoons to teach history and is chock full of worthwhile lesson plans, worksheets and other goodies.

The project is named after cartoonist Frederick Burr Opper, who created the classic comic strip “Happy Hooligan” and did a number of editorial cartoons for the Hearst newspapers.

While we’re talking about editorial cartoonists and lesson plans, it may be worth noting that Daryl Cagle has a few of his own up on his site as well.
