Just got back home from San Francisco after spending the day at APE. I’m working on a more thorough report for the main site, but I thought I’d share a few pictures in the meantime …
Below is a picture of my buddy and fellow blogger Graeme, after venturing out of The Concourse to the Holy Grill, where he bought lunch for himself, his lovely wife Kate, Bryan Lee O’Malley and Hope Larsen. Blogger by day, delivery boy by night … or weekend, or whatever.
Graeme, after he makes his delivery … I’m not sure if he got a tip or not:
The always nice Rick Geary … artist for the Eisner-nominated Gumby comic, as well as The Brontes, which he says he’s hoping to start drawing again soon:
Jeffrey Brown and Renee French … Jeffrey was signing copies of Feeble Attempts, while Renee was signing copies of both the Eisner-nominated The Ticking and her latest, Micrographica:
I spent a lot of time at the AiT/PlanetLar booth talking to Larry Young and his lovely wife Mimi, who are expecting a baby in June. Particularly had a lot of fun talking to them about Mimi’s day job, in-laws, knitting and my brother:
And here’s the crew from their booth … Larry, Ash Aiwase, Josh Richardson, Daniel Merlin Goodbrey (The Last Sane Cowboy and Other Stories) and Matt Silady (The Homeless Channel):
The pictures I wish I had: A couple was walking around in very detailed, airbrushed set of Green Lantern costumes, which seemed kind of odd at the Alternative Press Expo. The costumes were very well made, though. A few hours later, they changed into the X-Men, showing up as Archangel and Dark Phoenix. I think it was Ian Brill who commented that maybe they felt out of place dressed as Green Lanterns at APE, and thought maybe X-Men costumes would work better …
Got to talk with lots of other great folks today, including Ryan Claytor, Ian Brill, First Second’s Gina Gagliano, Lyle from Crocodile Caucus, Ken Levin, Matt Maxwell, Jeff Lester, SLG’s Dan Vado and Top Shelf’s Brett Warnock, among others.
More pictures tomorrow …

Great pics… I enjoyed my first APE today, thanks to finding out about it last week on the Newsarama blog. So… thanks! You can check out my recap and pics from today at my blog. Cheers!

APE is always a very enjoyable experience. The wares at each table are usually unique to that table, so there’s plenty of exploration to be done. Also, the space is roomier, more comfortable than most cons.

Awesome, GWS … I’m gonna be doing a round-up post of various reports from the show, and I’ll make sure to include yours.
