–Want the buzz on this summer’s big movies? The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly is the annual summer movie preview double issue and features a black-costumed Spider-Man on the cover. In addition to the cover story on Spider-Man 3, there’s also a very … um, interesting sidebar where Kirsten Dunst proposes her version of Spider-Man 4 — a low-budget movie where Mary Jane has “eight babies — like a Spider would.”
The movie preview also features lots of other movies — FF, Pirates, Shrek, Potter — and even an interview with Optimus Prime, where he answers questions like “Ever crank-call the GoBots?” Heh. The book section, meanwhile, has reviews for four comics — the Criminal trade (B+), The Salon (B), Guy Ritchie’s Game Keeper (C) and Alias the Cat! (A-).
–Speaking of EW, their Popwatch blog turns U2’s “Mysterious Ways” into something more appropriate for the Spider-Man musical.
–The latest issue of Vanity Fair — the “green” issue, with Leonardo DiCaprio on the cover — has a short write-up about the Minx titles. “…Minx’s original graphic novels are targeting shoujo-loving teenage girls who may not know (or care) that Superman’s father’s name was Jor-El but who fancy manga and the new wave of chick-centric comics.” The only weakness, they say, is that most of the books are written by men. “Bring on the League of Extraordinary Minxwomen!”
My brother, BTW, is also in that issue, on page 260.
–I’ve been wanting to do a post on this, not only because Stuart mentioned Blog@, but also because it sounds like an interesting concept. But after trying to figure out how Yahoo Pipes work, I had to give up. I either need more time or a bigger brain.
–Matt posted a press releaselast week about DrMaster Publications entering into a deal with Fox Interactive Media’s digital retail store, Direct2Drive; the site will offer downloads of their comics. If you’re curious about what the titles will be like, check out the artwork below for two of their titles that they sent over:
–This website is hypnotic. This one, meanwhile, is very addictive.

I think it’s hilarious that Bryce Dallas Howard looks EXACTLY like Mary Jane should, and Kirsten Dunst looks EXACTLY like Gwen Stacy should. Not just in hair color, but Howard just LOOKS like MJ to me.
