Japanese mag examines manga. News at 11.

April 20th, 2007
Author Chris Mautner

The March issue in question

Japan Plus is a monthly English-language magazine devoted “Japanese society and culture and Japan’s role within the Asia-Pacific community.” For their March issue, they took an in-depth look at the global success of manga, with articles on the roots of the medium, artists like Moyoco Anno and Kotobuki Shiriagari and how its managing to attract overseas fans.

I know, I know, it’s April now. Give me a break, I only just found out about this a few days ago (my editor handed me a copy). The good news is, they have the entire issue posted online here (if you have a slow Internet connection go here). It’s not exactly the easiest way to read the magazine, but if you can’t find it on the stands, it does the job nicely.
