Need a set of Adamantium claws?

Remember that Batsuit worn by Val Kilmer (Batman Forever) the American Super Heroes Museum had considered adding to their collection? Many thanks to my comrade in comics, John Anderson of AOL’s Comic Alliance, for breaking the news rather gently about happened to that Batsuit, along with a “real,” honest-to-God set of Adamantium claws worn by Hugh Jackman in X2: X-Men United, Alicia Silverstone’s Batgirl getup from Batman and Robin and a Supersuit worn by the late Christopher Reeve in Superman: The Movie.

These were three of many more movie collectables recently auctioned by Profiles in History, (between Thousand Oaks and Santa Monica) earlier this month. Among the super stuff, Reeve’s Supersuit netted the highest bid ($115,000), but was edged out in regard to overall bidding by a H.R. Giger Alien suit, topping out at $126,500!

I’ve no burning need for any of that memorabilia, except for the claws. But I would’ve had to top a final bid of $40,250, and that, my friends, can buy A LOT of comics…

C’mon, it’s a travesty that those claws would go for over $40k. They’re not even from the original X-Men movie! Christopher Reeve’s costume from Superman: The Movie… now there’s a museum-quality piece of geek history.

Yeah, plus those things could put someone’s eye out real easy.
