Here’s a bit of news (via Tom) for all you anglophiles and Ronald Searle fans. Rupert Everett will be starring — in drag no less — in an updated remake of the classic series of St. Trinian’s films from the 1950s and 60s.
A little bit of background: St. Trinian’s was originally a series of collected cartoons by Searle depicting a posh school full of thoroughly violent and downright viscious little girls. They were adapted into a series of rather popular films, all starring Alastair Sim (best known for his Ebenezer Scrooge) as the headmistress (also in drag, natch). You can find more info here. The new film will also star Emily Watson and Stephen Fry.
