Bubba Ho-Tep

Thought I’d missed my chance to remind you about the entertaining work of Joe Lansdale when a recent book signing at a local comics store tied to the release of the Dark Horse trade collecting the five-part miniseries Conan and the Songs of the Dead was canceled.

Then, I found a short recap of a recent non-comic shop signing last month at Book People, as summarized by the Austin-American Statesman’s Katherine Tanney.

Unfortunately, the talk at that non-comics venue veered far away from the controversial DC vs. Edgar and Johnny Winter lawsuit, and toward his prose work (his latest is Lost Echoes), how he created the concept for one of his most interesting stories made into the wonderful film Bubba Ho-Tep and stories optioned by the likes of directors Ridley Scott and David Lynch that sit unmade…

Lansdale: awesome. I only wish he could do another Jonah Hex story.
