A casting call for the JLA movie?

April 13th, 2007

Before you get your Underoos bunched up into knots, KEEP READING my very special Friday the 13th picture story!

Whilst scanning this morning’s Austin-American Statesman, I came across this very funny story about the Great Grown-Up Spelling Bee (a non-profit event held in other cities around the country), including the Austin Music Hall yesterday, along with a dozen cool images by the Statesman’s ace photog Jay Janner.

To raise money for The Literacy Coalition of Central Texas, diverse teams of nerds competed from Half Price Books, TV folks at the local CBS network affiliate that co-sponsored the event and a trio of wannabees representing the Justice League of America and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.

I live in Leander (right outside Austin), and I didn’t know about this. I would have loved to have seen/partcipated in it. Christ, I need to take a break from World of Warcraft (and Newsarama) and see the sun.

  2. The Ugly American Says:

I can understand Alan Moore as Green Lantern, but why is Warren Ellis wearing a Flash outfit? Or is that Grant Morrison?

  3. Master Pancake Says:

I’ve always wondered what would happen when Rob Zombie inherited the Green Lantern.

I like the new Flash with the streamlined head too.

Superman’s a little too pasty for my taste though.

  4. Squashua Says:

Sorry Ugly; that’s Brian Michael Bendis as Flash.

  5. Homero Says:

I thought it was Brian K Vaughn.

  6. Hal! Says:

I am in Austin, and I had no idea about this. Doh!
