Dallas-Ft. Worth’s QuickDFW comics columnist Dan Koller grasps for a connection between Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential bid and the recent selection of “blond women” as team leaders in Justice League of America (Black Canary) and Mighty Avengers (Ms. Marvel):
She and Black Canary are just the latest additions to the ranks of female leaders. Power Girl is in charge in Justice Society of America. Rogue is the boss in X-Men. Nico guides the kids in Runaways.
If Clinton is smart, she’ll take her campaign to comic book conventions. To fanboys, a female commander-in-chief sounds about right.
Better still is the suggestive headline: “Women on top.”

One major problem…comic book superheroines are shapely and pretty, and Hillary is decidedly not! Plus, she’s the devil. KIDDING, sorta…

You may recall a time in the early to mid 80s where the X-Men (Storm), Avengers (Wasp), Justice League (Zatanna), Legion (Dream Girl) New Teen Titans (Wonder Girl), and the All-Star Squadron (Liberty Belle) were all led by women at the same time. Only one of them was classic blond though.
I’m not suggesting that one title is ripping off the other, these ideas just seem to run in packs.
