Ain’t It Cool News has the first look at the gray Iron Man suit from next year’s movie.
“I love that it’s easily something that would be built out of weapon parts,” Harry Knowles writes, “thrown together with whatever was handy and made to look, in pieces, like it could be part of whatever weapons Tony Stark is being forced to build as a POW.”

IM UP IN UR BAYZ,
INFRINGIN UR CIVLIBERTEEZ.
…ahem.
That looks…(goes back and forth between utterly daft and utter genius, and settles on) beautifully retro. Like King of the Rocket Men meets Alias.
…wow. Imagine what the RED armour is going to look like.

So far so good. That armor looks amazing! I love the little mouth holes.

Well, Ghost Rider did look like Ghost Rider and I’m not one to infringe on the mothership, but I did suffer through Fantastic Four.

Holy Sh*t!
That looks awesome!

Ginchy.
Is that a gun on his hip or a hydraulic/piston? RoboCop meets Iron Giant?

WOW. that looks amazing. Mr Favreau is serious about keepin this movie faithful to its roots.
Hopefully in a sequel we can see War Machine.

Damn, for a split second I thought God had answered my prayers and provided me with a Robot Archie movie.

It looks great! Very much like the original first armor

Yeah, that’s as seriously retro (in a good way) as I can fathom. Excellent !

I…honestly think I kind of like it. It’s much better than I had imagined.

Looks better than the new Superman costume!

Beautiful. I’d be happy if that was the ONLY armor he wore throughout the entire movie. However, I’m just a big fan of the original armor, it’s so unconventional, dark, and represents the concept of a man trapped by technology more than any other Iron Man armor. I’m sure the other armors to follow will be cool, too.

Somewhere in heaven, Don Heck looks down and smiles…Pretty nice. Jon Favreau has the right idea, obviously…Iron Man is in very good hands…

This looks FANTASTIC!!!!! Maybe the red & gold armor will be in the classic look from the 80’s Bob Layton era!!
April 12th, 2007 at 3:07 pm
That looks pretty cool. I can’t wait to see it in action.

This is definitely the most enthusiastic I’ve ever seen people at the first look at a “costume” and I have to agree. Very obviously the Mark 1 armour, and more eerie than silly. You would not want someone in that coming after you to beat you up.
April 13th, 2007 at 1:22 pm
that actually looks cool
April 13th, 2007 at 2:17 pm
best comic book super hero costume ever. surpassed by the Donner films’ Superman costume, you say? i think this one tops it.

I’m pretty sure they’ve said the red’n'gold is conceptualised by Adi Granov - and consequently looks a LOT like Granov’s “Extremis” armour design with a different helmet.

Wow. Freakin awesome.
April 17th, 2007 at 2:43 pm
I like the fact that you are moving into an “origin” phase with this one very well.
Will we get a glimpse of the Golden Avenger in this,or wait for Iron Man-2?
P.S.—
Can I design the next armor?
Can I send you some samples?

Cool. Cool. Cool.

…Heh, I give Make about a week after the movie premiers before they have at least three articles on how to duplicate this version of the armor at home
