In an interview this weekend with Wizard, former Flash screenwriter/director David S. Goyer reveals he’s sold Warner Bros. executives on an idea that focuses on the more villainous side of the DC Universe.
Called Super Max, Goyer’s take focuses on a wrongly convicted Green Arrow, who’s sent to a special maximum-security prison for super-powered criminals. There, he has to face some of the inmates.
Goyer is developing the concept with writer Justin Marx.

Weird.

Well, it’s a concept that’s worked in the Daredevil comics…and Flash…and Batman…and Punisher…
Originality aside, it’d still be awesome with Smallville’s Green Arrow.

I was thinking about this over the weekend, and the thing that bugs me is why do you need to stick Green Arrow into a “Super” prison? He doesn’t have any powers; you could stick him in a regular prison.

If it stars Green Arrow, why don’t they just call it “Green Arrow”…seriously, SuperMax might just be the worst name ever.

This might just be something in part, but if not, this idea sounds pretty unsound for a GA movie pitch.

In the ’90s I think it was established that Green Arrow has the metagene. Mostly ignored since then, and probably rightly. but there it is. Apart from that, if he’s good enough with a bow to fight off superpowered villains, I think it makes sense to keep him in a “super” prison, given that inmates routinely make weapons out the materials around them.
Me, I like SuperMax as a title. Clever play on the supermax prisons dotting our landscape.

Sounds like a pretty cool idea. I’d love to see it.

Exactly.

Sounds more like a plot for a Punisher movie than a Green Arrow movie.

Green Arrow is my favorite DC comic characters, followed by Bizarro, Aquaman, Red Tornado, Ion, Firestorm, Deadshot, the Question, Deadman, Jason Todd, and Black Adam. I love to see a film based upon him , especially one that has a unique concept with the comic films developed thus far, even though it may have similar ideals with currrent TV shows like Prison Break. But this is a comic superhero in lieu of the assistance of his assisted waponary devises (that makes him Green Arrow, externally). So, on the other hand what Oliver hones in on is what makes him nortoriously Green Aroow internally, and that is being Oliver Queeen – a cool badass. I hope the villians in this prison
are cool cahracter who are known somewhat to the common comic lover. Some could be draindead strong tough baffoons and others could be sinister masterminds. Whomever they are, I hope they are fellas who will make Ollie reach real down into his inner resources for survival.
