The Byrne Board takes a moment to reflect on what the board means to them:
“I myself get to interact with some interesting people, butt heads with some of them and talk or listen to my favorite comic book artist/writer ever. One thing I can say about this forum is that it’s never boring.”
“I get to read other people’s complaints about comics and compare them to my own to give me some idea of just how crazy I might be. I get to hear lots of stories about comic pros and interesting opinions on various topics that just seem to spring up every now and then. Also this forum is one of the few ‘places’ I have in my life where I can act silly.”
“When I do occasionally come up with a question or comment that is worth the response, I still get that sense of ‘Wow!!! John Byrne just spoke to me and answered my question!’ There’s the little kid in me that just can’t get over the fact that this famous comic book artist that’s he’s admired for years is doing that.”
“My first response to the question is the obvious enjoyment of interacting with other fans on a level higher than the often heard ‘____________ (Insert your title/creator of choice here) sucks!’ response. I also really dig seeing the commission pieces. I’ve managed to receive a handful of cool comics from other forum members who give them away simply to allow others the chance to enjoy them…. a very cool gesture indeed Ryan et all. Upon further reflection, I have taken note that I have wandered over the years, finding forums often falling into a certain atmosphere and feel that becomes a bit old and unfulfilling after a while… over the past few months this forum has slowly become my place of choice for posting actively and simply following threads as a viewer without feeling a need to respond to them.”
Yeah, I know, this is where the snark should be going. But it’s the end of this week, and as much as there may be numerous shots to be made against John Byrne and his fans, there’s something completely awesome about people who go online and get this excited:
“I get to talk to John Byrne! How cool is that?!”
It’d be like shooting puppies to make fun of that, people.

And, in this case, shooting puppies would be bad how?

John Byrne is a prince among men.
He loves it when some of his most loyal JBF members call him by cutesy nicknames like Jaybles, Jarbles, and Jimbo Jambles.
Im truly saddenned by the fact that he cant get any more work published these days and has to doodle commissions in exchange for food. Its truly a shame. Damn you fandom.
