Variety reports that Paramount Pictures has hired Grant Morrison to write a film adaptation of the Area 51 video game.

Christine Peters (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days) will produce the film through her CFP Productions, along with Penn Station’s Dean Georgaris (Damn Nation) and Michael Aguilar (The Departed, Constantine), and Stan Winston (Wrong Turn).

Georgaris, who wrote Lara Craft, Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life and rewrote Wanted, penned an earlier draft of Area 51.

The Midway game is set in a top-secret U.S. military facility, where a hazardous-materials specialist is brought in to investigate a viral outbreak that may be of extraterrestrial origin.

I don’t know why, but Morrison’s shirt made me laugh considering how the main portion of Newsarama has been cutting down on the swearing.

    Yeah, slow day here, sorry.
