Guess I’ll be heading to my local comic store VERY early on May 5 for the start of Free Comic Book Day (FCBD), considering all the cool new books this time out, featuring fewer retreads and more new concepts — including a bunch of all-ages selections — than ever before.
One of those intriguing debuts is Image Comics’ The Astounding Wolf-Man, and evidently retailers agree. Some 115,000 copies of the FCBD special are being printed according to series co-creator Jason Howard who received the up-close-and-personal treatment recently in the Lansing State Journal. I especially enjoy reading about folks making it in the comics world whilst toiling in real world jobs, like Howard, who manages an art staff of 24 for Dart Container.
By the way, if you’ve missed the roundup of May’s FCBD titles, check out the mothership’s extensive list.

Jason Howard buys his books at the same shop I do. I guess he’s going to be doing a signing on FCBD or shortly thereafter.

The Astounding Wolf-Man is the first time that I’m worried I might miss a FCBD.
