Yesterday, IESB.net found a source of its own close to the powers that be at the WB who voiced doubts about rumors I shared with you Tuesday that Batman would be excluded from any Justice League film. Of course, that’s just as big of an “if,” considering the long-shot chance a JLA movie will ever be made.
IESB.net also mentions Christian Bale’s three-picture deal to star as Batman — disclosed at a Wondercon panel two years ago — includes the flexibility to appear in an “ensemble” picture. (As a Bale-as-Batman fan, I’d be happier seeing good Batman movies than a JLA film.)
Seems insiders are split, according to IESB.net, about the expense of mounting a JLA movie versus launching a X-Men-style movie franchise. Again, it’s ALL rumors until somebody makes an announcement to the contrary, and like the NFL draft, it’s a lot of fun to speculate what your favorite team might do before they make their final decision. Especially in WB’s case, when doing nothing might be the smartest option of all…

I could see making a Batman/Superman film, now that they’ve got current franchises, but the whole JLA? A JLA story is only enjoyable if you understand that each character is a hero in their own rights.
Maybe after the Flash and WW movies come out, this would make more sense? I kinda feel like WB is just messing with us.

I remember a journalist saying once that he ran into him at an airport, where Bale said his contract was for three and a “Batman/Superman film”. Whether this has been commuted into a JLA film is another matter for conjecture…

“I kinda feel like WB is just messing with us.”
WB isn’t making up these rumors. If “us” means the fan community, then it’s us messing with us.
