It remains to be seen if the maybe-on-again Green Hornet film project — officially optioned today by Columbia Pictures — will be nearly as cool as the 1960s model with Bruce Lee and Van Williams or even the film Clerks muse Kevin Smith discussed launching a few years ago.
That makes three superguy projects, with the Hornet joining The Shadow and Snake Plisskin as potential tentpoles alongside the Spider-Man franchise in the Columbia fold.

i got excited when i saw the title but then i realized that it was for a movie not a tv show… they” muck it up somehow and make it a comedy or insert flavor of the moment rapper

Bruce Lee as Kato was the only good thing about the show. And I watched it every week while it was on – because of Lee. I was 11 years old, a mixed-race Japanese/Caucasian kid, and Bruce Lee became my hero. Any Green Hornet movie better treat the Kato role with respect and get a kick-ass Asian martial arts star. And be straight with the movie – no camp, no comedy (except what comes naturally in the dialog).

Seth Rogen is a poor choice as the lead in The Green Hornet movie. Aoparently Rogen is also writing the script, so maybe it was a package deal with Sony.
This casting decision makes as much sense as casting Will Smith to play James West in the “Wild Wild West” movie. Will may be a good actor, but those who remembered the TV series just never bought into a black guy playing James West.
I think those who remember the Green Hornet TV series won’t buy a curly-haired guy who couldn’t do a push-up as an action hero.
So who should replace Rogen as the Green Hornet lead? My choice is Jon Hamm, currently starring in TV’s “Mad Men” as Don Draper. (see link)
