Today’s PW Weekly reports book publisher Harry N. Abrams has picked up the publishing rights to Jon. J. Muth’s painted adaptation of Fritz Lang’s classic film M, a mini that hasn’t seen the light of day since the four-part mini first appeared from long-dead Eclipse Comics some 17 years ago. Abrams will repackage M as a hardback book accompanied with a DVD of the Lang film.

Many of you probably remember Muth more fondly from his collaboration with writer J.M. DeMatteis on Moonshadow, but it’s hard to forget a book like M whose first issue came with a double-sided flexi-disc soundtrack. And, for the longest while, Muth has been working in the arena of childrens books, with The Three Questions and Zen Shorts being particularly beautiful reads.

Sample Muth’s output on the kids circuit on the cheap as a paperback edition of No Dogs Allowed arrives in bookstores the week of May 8.
