I was digging Dean Trippe’s write-up on Veronica Mars being temporarily replaced with the Pussycat Dolls reality show yesterday, particularly the wallpaper he created showing my favorite TV sleuth laying out one of the wannabes:
Then I saw this report on E! Online about how things aren’t looking good for Veronica Mars returning next season:
Though official word has not yet come down from the network, I did hear from creator Rob Thomas earlier this week, who told me things weren’t looking good: “I’ve never been less certain of our fate. I’m afraid I’ve gone from cautiously optimistic to something less than that.”
Must. Contain. Rage … hopefully Dean’s artwork won’t prove prophetic.
Update: E!’s gossip columnist has posted more details on what could happen with Veronica Mars

Veronica Mars is the best show on tv and it boggles my mind why something So Good needs to struggle to stay alive

A year ago I would have been apoplectic at the thought of losing Veronica… but this season has been so anemic that I just don’t care any more.

Man, you know the only reason this season’s been less enjoyable than the previous ones is network interference making the shows be more individualized rather than running season long mysteries like 1 & 2. EVEN SO, it’s still one of the best shows on TV by a mile.

Yes, the changing of the season long mystery is the foolish decision that hurt the flow of the show. It was the one detective show that really gave you the viewer a chance to solve the case along with Veronica. Guess judging from what is in that time slot the CW thinks we are not smart enough to do that.
It stinks that yet again the best mystery show on TV is in danger of leaving.
