Holy Blistering Barnacles, Tintin goes Hollywood!

After a wait of a bout a quarter-century, various news sources (the International Herald Tribune and CBC) are reporting DreamWorks via Steven Spielberg has committed to making a Tintin movie based on the classic Herge creation to be released by 2009!

DreamWorks is committed to at least one film and isn’t sure which of the 24 books Herge created will be adapted, says Nick Rodwell, head of Hergé’s Moulinsart Studios (the rightsholder of Tintin). I’m assuming it’s a live-action project until somebody says differently…

Oh God, I’m afraid of the casting for this.

I don’t know why you would make this live-action. The wonderfully stylized art for this series is one of the biggest reasons it’s been such a classic. To the point where a live action version wouldn’t BE Tintin

    Hey Jason and Goodrich,

    Casting if it’s a live-action film, I’m concerned about that too…

None of the news reports I saw said that it wasn’t a live-action film, but I’m assuming so, considering how long it takes to produce and release a GOOD animated film!

    Thanks,

    Wayne

I swear there have already been live action versions of Tintin in the 60’s or 70’s. That said, I can totally see a young Alan Cummings as Tintin and Harrison Ford as the Captain.

It will be live action. This has been discussed within Tintin circles for years.. eg. see the http://www.tintinologist.org forums.
