On his MySpace blog, Fantastic Four director Tim Story confirms that, yes, we will see Galactus in Rise of the Silver Surfer:
There’s a lot going on. I’ve been seeing the billboards going up and hopefully you have all seen the TV spot. I thought it turned out well. I’ve been checking the web to see what people think. Always good to check in. There are still those that can’t give us a break but whadayagonnado?! Haters! Wow. And to the many that have been emailing in such support — Thank you. The emails do not go unread. Hopefully I can make YOU and MYSELF proud!
There continues to be much speculation about Galactus. Major speculation. We haven’t finished the design of him/it so be careful about what you read and believe. Trust me…no one knows. One things for sure, you can expect to see him/it. It will be pretty powerful. I’m having a lot of fun with the concept and believe me — MOST will be satisfied.
And what about Doctor Doom?
“Oh he’s coming,” Story writes. “Just wait. Classic look! And we definitely touch on his roots in the film. We’re working long hours to make it right.”
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer opens June 15.

Really? Is that typical for big digital FX productions to have something like that unfinished this close to the release date? (Meaning still tweaking the design, not necesarily finished with all of the effects).

I have to admit to getting excited every time I see the promo hoping that Galactus will be in it. I’m hoping it resembles t he 40 foot dude and not the hive-like space thing Gah Lak Tus.

It sounds cool…I just hope they don’t try to cram too much into one flick a la X-3…In X-3, the ‘cure’ and the return of Jean Grey could have been a movie on their own…Here’s hoping FF2 doesn’t follow the same path…Oh, and Galactus better be a friggin 40 foot dude in a funky purple suit…Who says a cosmic entity has to look ‘believable’????

I want one guy, very tall. I liked Gah Lak Tus but if this is our one shot at movie greatness please let it be something akin to the classic. Best news I’ve heard all day.

June 15th is rather close to not know what Galactus looks like… Does that mean he probably just pops up at the end of the flick?

It’s probably quite difficult making a giant in a pink, sorry, magenta and blue outfit look menacing.

If they can make him look as cool as he does in Ultimate Alliance then it will be frellin’ awesome!

I think digital FX are some of the last stuff to get done.
I think of it this way. The computer generated dinosaurs were only in the first Jurasic Park movie for a very short period of time. I forget exactly how much, but it was a surprisingly tiny percentage of the movie.
A figure like Galactus could have a great impact even if he’s only on screen for 30 seconds. Not all at once, but 3 seconds here, 5 seconds there, spread out over a longer scene that’s enough to make him like the tidal wave in a disaster movie.
If they already know *generally* what they want, maybe a giant guy who can step on cities landing on the planet, they can do a lot of work on the general stuff and go back for more details later. So they do the animation of him walking around now, but add or subtract little details from the helmet right until the last moment of production.
Hey, something has to be done a week before the movie comes out, or else the movie would come out earlier.

If they don’t even have the design of him done yet, then I’d take it to mean that he probably shows up right at the very end of the movie to set up a cliffhanger for the next one.
