Cartoon Research Library hosts a year-long celebration of storytellers, Caniff

March 2nd, 2007
Author Wayne Beamer

If you live anywhere near the campus of Ohio State University (wish I did), you’ll want to check out some of the festivities already planned by their Cartoon Research Library this year in salute of Terry and the Pirates creator Milton Caniff’s 100th birthday. Harvey Pekar was the first of three lecturers for the museum’s Storytelling 2007: A Celebration of Graphic Narrative, charting the history of graphic storytelling and the work of current creators.

Other programs in the series feature exhibitions of the work of Caniff, Will Eisner and James Thurber, along with lectures from Making Comics genius Scott McCloud and Frank Espinosa, the creator of the wonderful action/adventure series Rocketo.

Check out the entire list of special events planned for the remainder of 2007 here.
