I was watching Tuesday’s Letterman yesterday (we TiVo it and watch it the next day … what can I say, I’m too old to stay up that late every night) and one of the segments was a pop quiz on the New York Comic-Con.
Letterman’s Web site has some of the questions:
The New York Comic Com 2007 Quiz - the annual Comic Convention was held last week at the Javits Center here in New York and we got some footage of the event. We then compiled this quiz. Some of my favorites:
-(heavy guy thumbing through comic books): “Just an hour into the convention, this man has already gotten his hands on:
A) Supeman #1
B) Green Lantern #3
C) Cheeseburger #6(Character in giant head): “The character on the right:
A) is form a Japanese cartoon
B) will soon be in his own movie
C) has been stumbling blindly through the city since the Thanksgiving Parade(girl in fluffy dress and orange wig): “Looking at this scene, we’re reminded that:
A) all fantasy realms are welcome here
B) the convention is a great place to meet friends
C) it’s been a tough month for Britney Spears(alien with claws): “You may remember this creature from:

B) “Pan’s Labyrinth”
C) Your local Taco Bell
I recall there was also one that showed an image of a lady in leather carrying a lightsabre, that went something like this:
“Before leaving the house, this lady’s husband asked:
a) What time will you be home?
b) (Some other straight answer I can’t remember)
c) Honey, do you know what happened to the bug zapper?”
The best segment, though, featured Tom Noddy, the Bubble Guy. He creates stuff like this with bubbles and a cigarette:

The girl with the lightsaber was with a group called NY Jedi, who booked the stage on which my comedy show was performed all three days. It went spectacularly, thanks for asking.

This is even funnier if you know the context:

A local TV station caught lots of rats and cockroaches running around a Manhattan Taco Bell after-hours. The footage aired the night before the convention.
I ate at Wendy’s last weekend.
