Skottie Young shares more New X-Men designs

February 27th, 2007
Author JK Parkin

Just like last week, Skottie Young has posted more character designs for his upcoming run on New X-Men:

Young writes about Pixie:

I wanted to make here wings look more like a butter fly than just ovals on her back. I pulled out the master of Pixies and Fairies, Brian Froud and went to town. I tried to make her hair a little more unique as well, giving you the sense that she is a pixie. something uncovential to a normal girls hair. Keeping it cute, but also making it a little fun in the process. When I think of faries, or pixies, I think of nature. Trees, flowers, gras..etc. Since they live in a school, surrounded by giant robots and rooms full of tech things, I added the nature into her clothes. By adding some stiched on patches of flowers and vines her her jeans, i think I can keep the feeling of nature in her character with out having her sitting on tree stumps and the like.

If you want a good look at what Mr. Young has to offer as an artist, check out the Monster of Frankenstein backup in the Legion of Monsters: Werewolf by Night special which was released last week. It was a genuine mess with an uninteresting story. Good luck, New X-men readers.

Marvel rarely even acknowledges anything about Morrison’s run on X-men so I doubt you’ll see her.

These sketches look absolutely amazing. I’m picking up New X-Men just so I can see more.

I think Young is an incredible artist. I love these sketches and he is a big reason I am going to start picking up New X-men. There is so much life and energy in his work.

The Cable and Deadpool covers he’s got coming up are pretty awesome.

After CW I figure the school will become THE govt/shield sponsered school for ALL mutants. Train them up then put them out to work. Would be funny to see Franklin Richards at Xaviers!
Will also be interesting to see the mutant/govt dynamic.

if nothing else, check out Young’s blog to see the colorized version of Pixie. The wings alone are incredible. (This from someone who has never read a book with Skottie Young art.) I might even pick up New X-Men #38 just to enjoy the art. Whoa!

Pixie is really cool, i found another guy on the internet who drew sketches of what he thought would make a cool X-men. Her name is piXie, and to tell the truth, i think his pixie is cooler than the official one. You should check it out. His name is David Maihack.

I was hunting for good quality ideas on bouquets when I came across this website. You’ve got a lot of fantastic information here, am i able to use some of this content in my own floral blog? I would of course backlink back here so people can see the original write-up. Thanks in any event .. Katherine Bradley
