On DC and Marvel

It looks like they are both going to be overtaken by Dark Horse. Their storylines are no longer consistent and too market oriented, while DH still deals with real and original storylinbes

The time will come when DH dominates the charts, while Marvel and DC will end up like Archies

Y'know, you don't HAVE to buy the fill-in issues.

Just flip DC/Marvel the finger when they pull the rug out from under you and don't buy it. You're not hurting your LCS either: content changes between solicitation and shipment mean the book is returnable.

I have had it with late books. I've been reading comics for over 15 years and this current trend is inexcusable. I've dropped all my Marvel books and all but two of my DCs. What makes it worse is having to buy comics that become retro-actively filled in. Do I want a Dwayne McDuffie fill in? No. I wanted 'Last Son' part three.

Well, given that they just solicited ASB&R for the fifth time this past week, I'd say they haven't learned their lesson yet.

Okay, here's my brief rant about late comics. How about, instead of soliciting a comic with super great creators that have just pitched their story five minutes ago, companies wait until 3, 4, or (gasp!) the entire thing (mini-series, arc, graphic novel, etc.) is done? I've never understood that. Especially when it comes to creators that have a late track record (i.e., Jim Lee.). Johns actually kind of pisses me off when he talks about Civil War being late. He comes off like it's okay to be late because the other guys are doing it to. DC should be doing everything they can to NOT be late with anything when they have these big name creators on their flagship titles every month. DC will never overtake Marvel if they don't come around to seeing that.
