If you haven’t heard much from Rich Koslowski since his quirky saga of The King — save for his rather successful full-color, mini-comic Jim’s Jerky — that’s very much the way the award-winning creator of Three Fingers and The 3 Geeks planned it. Rich’s major goals for 2007, as he shared them with me some six months ago: Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the 3 Geeks and his foray into the wacky world of comics self-publishing with an ambitious slate of projects.
Keeping mum about Rich’s exciting plans for this long has been a major pain, but he made up for it big time, allowing me to share these exclusive images of his next novel, The List, hitting Diamond’s May Previews catalog (under the 3 Finger Prints banner). This adult look at Christmas answers the question, “What if all those beloved characters we all grew up watching were real?”
A battle royale ensues when profiteers attempt to horn in on the business of Christmas, forcing Santa and his noble friends to fight for the soul of the holiday season and the innocence of children everywhere. Think Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer meets Lord of the Rings and you’ll get what I mean…
This 200-page novel includes some 40 beautiful black and white ink-washed and full-color illustrations. (Expect to see a chapter sampling soon at Rich’s Web site.) And it will be available at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2007, hopefully with a new 3 Geeks graphic novel. No story specifics to share with you on this one yet…
The most ambitious project of them all: Koslowski will serve as a producer on a 3 Geeks film, directed by independent filmmaker Heath McKnight and MPS Digital Studios, with a script by Jeremiah Hall. In fact, part of the film shoot will take place this fall in Milwaukee.
Rich hasn’t posted the official press release about the 3 Geeks movie project on his Web site just yet, but you can find out more details about it as well as The List on his blog.
